Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, BSP, GUP, ndc, afwc, acsc, psc has been serving as the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) since 03 July 2025. He hails from Tangail and was born on 01 December 1971. He joined Bangladesh Air Force Academy on 08 January 1990 and got commissioned from Royal Malaysian Air Force on 13 October 1992 in General Duties (Pilot) branch.
The Air Officer is a skilled fighter pilot and category ‘A’ Flying instructor who has logged more than 2900:00 flying hours. He has flown various types of aircrafts which include SF-25C, PT-6, PILATUS PC-7, HPT-32 DEEPAK, Grob G-120TP, Fouga, L-39ZA, Yak-130, F-7MB, FT-7B and FT-7BG1.
Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq has attended various professional courses both at home and abroad, mentionable are Flying and Para Jump Course from Malaysia, Flying Instructors’ Course from India and ‘High G’ Course from Turkey. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and Maxwell Air University, Alabama, USA. He has also completed War Course from National Defence College, Mirpur and NDC from National Defence College, India.
Service career of the Air Officer is a blend of Command, Instructional and Staff appointments. He has commanded a number of squadrons, units and served in various staff appointments. He held the position of Officer Commanding 11 Squadron, Officer Commanding 25 Squadron, Officer Commanding 35 Squadron, Officer Commanding 301 Surface to Air Missile Unit, Officer Commanding Flying Wing BAF Base Bir Uttam A K Khandker & BAF Base Zahurul Haque, Director Recruitment & Director Air Operations in Air Headquarters and Commandant Bangladesh Air Force Academy. The Air Officer has served as Directing Staff, Air Wing in Defence Services Command and Staff College & Directing Staff (Air) in Armed Forces War Course (AFWC) at National Defence College, Mirpur.
Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq has visited different countries namely Malaysia, India, DR Congo, USA, China, Egypt, Russia, KSA, UAE, Thailand, Uganda, Finland, Germany, Switzerland etc. Under the blue helmet, he has served in different capacities including Contingent Commander of Bangladesh Aviation Transport Unit at UN Peacekeeping missions in DR Congo.
In recognition of his meritorious service, Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq was awarded with BSP and GUP. The Air Officer is happily married and blessed with two daughters.
